Maternal-Fetal Medicine / High Risk Obstetrics
Maternal-Fetal Medicine is a subspecialty of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Our focus is the management of pregnant patients with high-risk complications. Such high-risk complications can include past or present obstetrical problems, medical, surgical and genetic issues, which may place the pregnant woman or her child at risk.
According to patient needs, we offer routine and high-risk prenatal care pre-conceptual and genetic counseling. In addition, our staff is trained in the procedures, technologies and methods of care available to improve pregnancy outcome. These methods can include a diagnostic amniocentesis, ultrasound and assessment for fetal well-being.
Although complicated pregnancies often require "high tech" care, we recognize that this birth is a special time for you and your family and strive to keep this process as natural as possible.
To provide continuity of care we recommend that patients have at least one prenatal visit with each of our physicians during the course of the prenatal care.
Our physicians are board certified Perinatologists with specialization in fetal ultrasonography.
Our nurse practitioners are board certified in Women's Health Care and can accommodate our patients for pregnancy and gynecologic care.
Deliveries are performed at Rush University Medical Center.
There will be a physician on call 24 hours everyday. Patients that phone after office hours for an emergency (312) 997-2229, will have care directed by the on call physician.
